EAA Union

Labor Representative Angel Calvo

Angel Calvo serves EAA members as a labor representative for many departments.  He has become one of the most knowledgeable union representatives in the City, having close contacts in many departments, at the ERB, and in the political arena.

In addition to his duties as a labor representative, Angel is EAA's liaison to the Employee Relations Board.

Angel came to EAA in 2000 after working for the City in the Management Analyst series for 15 years. He began at DWP and subsequently worked at CDD, LAPD, and Building and Safety. During this time, he became active in EAA, serving as a Senior Representative, a member of the MOU 1 Unit Council, and as the MOU 1 Governor. He was a sitting EAA Governor when lured away from Civil Service employment for a career in labor.

Much of his spare time is devoted to his wife and pre-school-age daughter. The rest of the staff listens to Angel enthusiastically describe the growing up of a young person as though he were the only father to have experienced it. It is a wonderful thing to have such passion. As a graduate of UCLA, Angel is frequently annoyed by that 'other' school's football team.

Angel encourages each of you to become an active EAA member. He reminds you that each and every member provides eyes and ears for the Union in the workplace. EAA relies on you to observe problems and MOU violations and report them to EAA's staff. Your labor representatives' success depends on the input and participation of the members.
