Sunday, Sep 20, 2009

SEIU's "Change to Win" lost a huge member last week when UniteHere resigned from that organization and joined the AFL-CIO. "The announcement. . . will soon to followed by a similar decision by the Laborers Union, and represents a likely fatal blow to SEIU’s efforts". This, according to an article in BeyondChron. The International Labor Communications Association (ILCA) added their support to UniteHere when "80 ILCA members showed their support for workers rights by wearing the [UniteHere] buttons themselves. Now that’s solidarity!" Before long, SEIU may become the lone union that has not joined with other labor organizations in the solidarity and stability that being united through the AFL-CIO can bring. EAA welcomes UniteHere and the Laborers to the bigger labor family!

In their "Friday Wrap", Adios Andy states that "Our Glorious Maximum Leader has been asked to sit on an advisory board tasked with making sure that ACORN no longer helps perpetuate child prostitution through its offices. Some jokes just write themselves." Andy Stern on a commission promoting anything good? Ha Ha Ha. Click here. Immediately below this article are two articles titled "Signed, Sealed, and Sold Out" parts 1 and 2 for your information. Once again, it refers to newly "negotiated" SEIU contracts involving huge give-backs to management. (sound familiar?)
