SEIU Lies and Cheats so They Can Steal (EAA’s Dues)
Friday, Jul 30, 2010Many EAA members have reported being called at home by persons claiming to be “working with EAA”. These persons ask questions about EAA’s Tentative Agreement (TA) and proceed to criticize the TA and urge our members to vote “no”. Thorough questions from our members revealed that, in fact, these callers were SEIU Organizers! Yes, they were actually paid SEIU 721 staff! Paid to steal your dues! In addition, some members have reported receipt of emails from these same organizers at their personal email addresses.
Remember, EAA will NEVER call you at home or send any email to your personal email address, unless you have specifically requested a telephone or email response on a particular issue. EAA respects the privacy of each of its represented employees - unlike SEIU, which respects nothing, as far as we can discern.
Other members have reported posted notices of meetings in their workplace that are supposedly EAA-sponsored meetings. When they attend the meeting, they find out that the meeting is actually sponsored by SEIU. The meeting’s purpose has been the trashing of the EAA TA. Interfering in another union’s election is outrageous, unforgivable, and totally anti-union.
We also are aware of an on-line comment from ex-EAA member Terry Keating who made the patently false claim that the TA “calls on EAA members to raise their pension contribution to 9%” [a direct quote from his post]. Every EAA member in good standing who received and read the TA knows that this is a complete fabrication by this SEIU shill. He also trashes workers in the private sector, and blames them (not Management) for their own economic situation.
Some on-line bloggers who are normally critical of our elected officials and of public sector workers have posted articles with worthwhile quotes regarding EAA, SEIU, and our TA :
- In an article entitled “Unions at War With City Hall and Each Other”, Ron Kaye states, “The mayor and Council cut one deal after another with the unions that weren't worth the paper they were printed on . . . they undermined the Engineers and Architects to aid the SEIU . . . EAA is now back in the good graces of City Hall . . . City officials could impose various costs on their own by declaring an impasse in negotiation“ [He confirms many of the facts EAA has provided its members.]
- Walter Moore chimes in with an article entitled “What Color is the Sky on Planet SEIU?” [a question often posed by thinking people]. He writes, “SEIU is criticizing the Engineers and Architects Association . . . [whose members] would pay $20 per doctor visit . . . [and] no longer receive $15 per month to enhance their life insurance . . . [and] would pay 5% of their monthly healthcare premiums . . . Wait, that's it? That's the supposedly onerous terms? . . . [EAA representatives] have, aptly enough, done the math. . . Your call, SEIU: Do you want to insist on that $10 co-pay, or do you want to keep your job?” [While we may or may not agree with articles that Walter Moore writes, he seems to be right on target with this one.]
