In the latest update to their online poll, they have actually found 3 people who support the ERIP, so the vote is now 736 against and 3 for the ERIP. In other news, members of the COCU unions are coming out of the woodwork with their opposition to the ERIP as noted in two documents linked below. We received these by email:
NO ERIP - This open letter dated 09/23/09 comes from a perceptive and active member of the Building Trades whose name is signed to the document. “So you can take this deal and take a pay cut from 11% to 11.73% from the contracted amount or you can reject it for a pay cut of 6%.”[Sort of like EAA did, with our litigation ongoing.] While we have not analyzed his figures, he explains them in the letter. And he adds “Can someone help me out here and explain how this is a good deal?” and “This deal needs to go down in flames.” and further “show up and vote NO on this thing.” For the complete letter, please click here for a pdf file.
WHERE’S THE LINE? Obtained from the same source as the letter above, it is updated and unsigned, but is believed to have the same author as the letter. “media sources know the details, but we have to search, dig and excavate to find the actual language” Sounds like a typical SEIU-Butcher approach. He lists 9 points about the so-called “deal” and refutes or attacks the ERIP in all. Point 7 is “We were better off with 26 forced furlough days. “ [like EAA?] He summarizes this article with “The overall sentiment is that there was no limit to the concessions, when the last minute bargaining took place.
