Labor Representative Christopher Moody
Christopher Moody assumed his duties at the Union on July 28, 2008. This addition continued EAA’s tradition of hiring from within the City family when a qualified individual is available.
Christopher was initially assigned to represent our members at LAWA where he was already known to many of them. He is familiar with procedures and personnel at LAWA, had previously represented a co-worker in a Skelly hearing, and had sat in various grievances.
Christopher worked for the City of Los Angeles prior to joining EAA. His career at the City has been at Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) where he has been employed for the last twelve years before joining us. Beginning as a Coordinator, his most recent position is as a Superintendant of Operations at LAX. During his tenure, Christopher developed software for LAWA’s common use ticketing. His software is also used by the Airport Police and other agencies, including the FBI, to predict in advance how many people are in a given building or complex at any given time. This aids in emergency planning for proper staffing levels in case evacuation is required.
Prior to employment at the City, Christopher spent his working life in various aspects of the travel industry. A travel agent for ten years, he then joined Continental Airlines where he worked in various capacities including Administrative Coordinator for the General Manager of the company, a position in which he honed his extensive computer skills.
His wife, Carol, is also employed at LAWA and is currently the Executive Secretary to the Chief Planner at LAX. They are kept busy with their two sons, ages 18 and 22. Christopher loves acting and singing in musicals and performs in a lead role in multiple performances of a show every year for the community theatre in Torrance. He also is part of his church’s choir and combines his singing with his expertise in the travel area to lead groups of singers on tours that combine performing with sight-seeing. They enjoyed a 20-day tour to Italy, Switzerland, and Germany, a tour planned and led by Christopher.
Christopher is dedicated to helping the members he represents enjoy the best possible experience in the workplace and believes his own experiences as a City of Los Angeles employee adds to his effectiveness.
