JULY 30, 2008 - EAA members who have worked for the City of Los Angeles for at least six years should remember that back in 2002, Julie Butcher, the General Manager of then SEIU 347, attacked EAA without warning while we were in the midst of contract negotiations.

To refresh your memories, she improperly obtained a CD from the Controller’s office with all of your names and home addresses and then sicked SEIU organizers on you in their desperate hunt for decertification signatures.

This is the same Julie Butcher that agreed to the 0% COLA for FY 04/05 that everyone eventually got stuck with. The same Julie Butcher that first proposed FURLOUGHS WITHOUT PAY, that the City is now trying to impose on everyone. The same Julie Butcher that proposed that the City could save money by cutting departments and jobs where EAA members work – specifically EAD, CDD, Housing and Planning, among others. The same Julie Butcher that couldn’t protect the rights of her own members in SEIU 347 and allowed Andy Stern to put them in a mega-local, against their will.

She’s now exploiting the same little group of malcontents that she used in 2002 to try to lead you all to slaughter.
