Executive Employee Relations Committee Special Meeting

Thursday, May 07, 2009

Items 4 through 7 of the 7 item agenda were exclusively EAA issues. The varied expertise of the representatives who were present for your union ensured that members’ arguments on the four issues were effectively and completely presented.

As can be seen from the agenda, DWP parity was the item of interest to the largest number of EAA members. The EERC must provide bargaining instructions to the CAO. All questions regarding Airports and ITA were thoroughly addressed by having the appropriate Labor Representative and rank and file members present. The Medical Assistants are a newly accreted classification. EAA and the City must now bargain over the appropriate salary for these new members.

The EERC does not make a decision on the spot, but deliberates in Executive Session before the affected City departments can proceed. Check this website regularly for updates.

EAA thanks the rank and file members for taking their time to assist in the presentation. Not only was their presence helpful to the EAA staff, but also these members got a taste of the atmosphere in a hearing before members of the City Council.
