SEIU paid millions to companies with family ties

SEPTEMBER 26, 2008 - "The money should have gone to the union workers." says an SEIU member. "This is very uncommon in unions," said Ken Paff of Teamsters for a Democratic Union, as reported in the LA Times.

An SEIU spokeswoman says there's nothing improper. And SEIU supposedly has a Code of Ethics that would theoretically prevent this nepotism. But Nelson Lichtenstein, director of UC Santa Barbara's Center for the Study of Work, Labor and Democracy says, "Clearly, there is a kind of double standard at work."

Unfortunately, this explains where a significant portion of SEIU's high union dues goes - to relatives and friends of SEIU leaders!
