SEPTEMBER 18, 2008 - More corruption at SEIU is reported by the LA Times and Mayor Sam.
From Mayor Sam: "An insider has told us that the FBI raided the offices of SEIU Local 721. Stay tuned." We will stay tuned for confirmation and link further developments. Click here for Mayor Sam.
From the LA Times: Freeman, his top aide, and 3 others were fired by SEIU yesterday. He is now removed from the payroll instead of just being "on leave". Annelle Grajeda, suspended head of Local 721, and Rickman Jackson, another suspended SEIU local head, remain on paid leave. However, if Mayor Sam’s report is confirmed, Grajeda may not be far behind Freeman.
In addition to the earlier accusations in the Times' series, SEIU now says that Freeman spent dues-payers' funds on his 2006 wedding and a Santa Barbara resort, and improperly drew payments from an affiliated local and a housing corporation. Read the entire Time' article by clicking here.
The SEIU Facts and Links page on this website is getting so crowded, it is easy to forget why this page is necessary. SEIU has attacked what should be a "fellow City union" in violation of the entire concept of unionism. The concept of unity, brotherhood, and mutual assistance is foreign to them. However, their members, who are just hard-working employees as are those in EAA and any other union, must be embarrassed at the continuing publicity and we sympathize with them. Those SEIU local members certainly did not vote for or intend their dues to be spent on raiding other unions, but to be spent on representation of members. Instead, SEIU members are stuck with a "call center" to address day-to-day problems in the workplace and no longer have direct representation in the workplace by labor representatives. In fact, most members will have to represent themselves with only telephone coaching by SEIU.
